A verb is a word that shows action or state of being.
A action verb specifies what the subject is doing.
An linking verb joins or links a subject to the noun or adjective in the predicate. Verb "be" form Examples: is, are, was, were, being, been, am
Other linking verbs Examples: taste, feel, look, smell, sound, seem, appear, grow, stand
A helping verb, also known as an auxiliary verb, assists in forming some the tenses and voice/time of the main verb.
Examples: am, are, is, was, were, be, being, been, do, does, did, have, has, had, may,must, might, can, could, will, would, shall, should
The main verb is the main action or state of being in the sentence. The main verb may have many helping verbs with it.
