The combination of three periods with a space before, in between and after ( . . . )
is called an ellipsis.
An ellipsis is used to show a long pause or that words have been omitted or left out. If an ellipsis is used at the end
of a sentence, a trailing sentence period is required ( . . . .).
(See the fourth period in the parentheses above? That's what the trailing sentence period is.)
