Birds

In scientific classification, birds have developed from dinosaurs. Birds are in the class Aves, and modern birds are in the subclass Neornithes. Some birds have lost the ability to fly, such as penguins and ostriches. Sometimes, birds are at the top of the ecosystem. This means that whatever pollution is in the animals below them gets into their bodies. For this reason, birds are often a good indicator of how much pollution is in the food chain.

Birds have a complex body layout. They have a complex respiratory system, in particular. It allows them to inhale and exhale at the same time! For their digestive system, they can digest food quickly so that they can fly better. Also, they have good vision - they can see ultraviolet light, whereas humans can't.

At birth, chicks can be altricial or precocial. Altricial chicks are small, naked, and blind. Precocial chicks are mobile and have feathers. Parents spend more time taking care of altricial chicks than precocial chicks. Sometimes both parents take care of their chicks, or just one parent takes care of the chicks.

Examples of Birds are:
Waterfowl
Penguins
Falcons
Eagles
Parrots
Doves
