Plants

Plants are classified into the Eukaryota Domain and Plantae Kingdom.

Plants are living things that convert carbon dioxide to sugars that form the main component of the plant using photosynthesis. Plants rely on to get water and to obtain nitrogen, phosphorus, and other elemental nutrients. Many plants, also need oxygen to successfully grow.

Several things, besides elemental nutrients, water, oxygen, and carbon dioxide, a plant's genotype affects the plants growth. Some mature faster, while others grow slower. The environment a plant lives in determines how the plant grows-if there's enough light, water, and nutrients. Other living organisms have their own affect on the growth of a plant. Some plants have to compete for space, others depend on insects for pollination, and some depend on bacteri and fungus for fertile soil.

Different plants have different life spans. One plant can be an annual, while another biennial or perennial. Annual plants live for only one year. Biennial plants live for two years. Perennials live for many growing seasons-the longest span of them all.
