Reptiles Reptiles are part of the class named Sauropsida. There are four main surviving orders: Chelonians, Crocodilians, Rhynchocephalians, and Squamates.
Reptiles exist on every continent except for Antarctica. They mainly live in the tropics and the subtropics.
All reptiles breathe by using their lungs, even aquatic reptiles. Many reptiles have to hold their breath while swallowing. Crocodlians, however, don't have to do this, even if they are underwater. Like amphibians, reptiles are also cold-blooded. They rely on the sun and the shade to keep themselves from overheating or being underheated. Unlike amphibians, reptiles have a thick skin. This allows them to not be so reliant on food.
